Solana Group strengthens management in the research department

In August, the Solana Group appointed Dr. Gunther Stiewe, previously Head of R&D, as Managing Director for Solana Research and SaKa Pflanzenzucht. Leo von Kameke, Managing Partner of the Solana Group, explains: "As Head of R&D, Gunther Stiewe is responsible for product management, breeding stations and research. Making him an equal managing director of our research company and breeding stations is therefore a logical step for us. And we are very pleased that Gunther Stiewe has accepted the offer".

Gunther Stiewe, who has many years of experience as a breeder and in the management of breeding programs, looks forward to this position and to the near future: "In my opinion, variety development is an end-to-end process - from the first crossing to the final variety for the customer. Only if all the functions that are involved in the process are integrated into this development can we continuously introduce varieties that are in line with market requirements. I am sure that with the dedicated colleagues at Solana we will be able to further optimize this process and implement it even better. Our success is based on competent and highly motivated employees, research activities with a vision for future challenges, excellent genetics and a firm understanding of the market. In the future, for example, we will expand our capacities for the application of molecular markers, advance mechanization in experimentation and invest in the digitalization of variety development.
